Does Lodi really need another park?

Over the past several years residents have spoken about a "Riverwalk" type park on North Main Street. Most residents disagreed with the project, and most residents were led to believe that the project was dropped.

As of late, we have been seeing on the monthly bills, payments made to the State of NJ "Green Acres" program for the "Saddle River Park development.

After doing a little research did find a Public Notice from 2010, where Lodi received
$ 475,000.00 from the Bergen County "OPEN SPACE TRUST FUND". It is not known if the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund is the same as the State of NJ Green Acres Program, or if Lodi received funding from both programs.

The Public Notice for the Open Space Program can be found here:

Also located was the deed showing property transaction from Lakewood Cemetery to the Borough of Lodi, recorded with Bergen County on 02/17/2011, see photo.

The strip of land runs from the Northern side of Outwater Lane and Main street along the Saddle River to the Market Street bridge in Saddle Brook. There would not be any connection to the Saddle River Park system on the other side of Market Street bridge. So this would be a park to no where.

Does this area flood? Why are we spending money for something that has no real use to taxpayers. If it is to become a recreation area, where will people park? Who would be allowed to use the park? Do we need a permit, like the other parks, just to use them?

Funny, the property tax records shows that Lakewood Cemetery still owns it.
